Erasmus in uscita

Il Programma Erasmus+ per Studio offre agli studenti l’opportunità di trascorrere un periodo compreso tra 3 e 12 mesi presso un’altra Università europea, fruendo degli stessi servizi a disposizione degli studenti locali. Lo studente Erasmus ha la possibilità di frequentare corsi e sostenere esami, svolgere attività di ricerca per tesi o effettuare un tirocinio curricolare, con garanzia del riconoscimento accademico all’interno della propria carriera.

Gli studenti Erasmus godono dell’esenzione dal pagamento delle tasse d’iscrizione presso l’Università ospitante e sono sostenuti da un contributo finanziario ad hoc, oltre che da eventuali ulteriori finanziamenti erogati dal Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca.

La presenza di un’esperienza di studio all’estero nel proprio curriculum vitae rappresenta un elemento sempre più apprezzato per l’inserimento nel mondo del lavoro. Il periodo all’estero, oltre a favorire il perfezionamento di almeno una lingua straniera, facilita lo sviluppo delle cosiddette soft skills: capacità relazionali, abilità di affrontare e risolvere situazioni problematiche, disponibilità ai cambiamenti e propensione ad adattarsi ad ambienti diversi.

Erasmus incoming

The University of Urbino “Carlo Bo” offers a Master Degree in Philosophy of Information. The Master Degree is recommended to all students that wish to develop a deep understanding of how information flows through society. In the Information Era, society constantly evolves due to rapid changes in the technological sectors. This calls for individuals who can extricate themselves in the complex world that surrounds them. Self-awareness, creativity, knowing if, and when, to change an opinion, choosing the right contexts, learning new languages, and, most importantly, being able to quickly and correctly interpret reality, are all traits that are gradually more important in order to become better citizens and to become more productive to the overall growth of society. The Master Degree in Philosophy of Information offers to individuals the chance to develop those important traits, by balancing classical philosophical reflection with proper understanding of science and technology. During their studies, students will experiment the value of a critical and rational approach to life and the world, as practiced by Aristotle, Hume, Kant, Husserl, and XX Century analytic and post-analytic philosophy. In particular, they will acquire the competences to critically assess information coming from different fields of science and technology. They will learn, among other things: i) how to interpret the most recent results in physics and neuroscience; ii) how to apply game theory to decision making; iii) how to organize knowledge and what are the best practices to spread it; iv) how to master logical inferences, think critically and solve problems; v) which ethical dilemmas characterize technological advancements.The students who enrol to the Master Degree can choose between two different curricula, depending on their main interests.

The first curriculum, Philosophy of Science and Technology, is geared towards business and research. Students delve into the philosophy of science, logic, cognitive models, artificial intelligence, and the history of science and technology alongside various scientific disciplines such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and ecology. While it provides the necessary credits to access the qualifying paths for teaching History and Philosophy in secondary school, it is particularly suited for those who wish to develop analytical skills, understand scientific and technological progress, and deeply contemplate the knowledge society.
The subject of the second curriculum is Philosophy and History for Education. This pathway adequately prepares future teachers, offering a solid foundation in the didactics of philosophy, the history of philosophy, logic and the philosophy of science, history of cognitive models, and artificial intelligence. Choosing this curriculum allows students to acquire the necessary credits to access the qualifying paths for teaching History and Philosopfy in secondary school. It educates them to navigate a world of new technologies and inspires students with a passion for philosophical research.

ERASMUS+ Traineeship: Erasmus+ Traineeship in History of Science and Foundations of Physics

Are you a university student interested in acquiring practical skills in the history of science, digital cultural heritage, science education or scientific communication?

The University of Urbino Carlo Bo welcomes applications from international students wishing to undertake an Erasmus+ traineeship at one of the following research centres:

  • Urbino e la Prospettiva – L’umanesimo scientifico da Piero e Leonardo alla rivoluzione galileiana
  • CIRFIS – Inter-University Research Centre for Philosophy and Foundations of Physics

Applicants should indicate which of the two pathways they would prefer to follow.

Traineeships will normally last between two and six months, with a minimum duration of 60 consecutive days. The specific period of the year and the proposed starting and ending dates must be agreed in advance with Professor Vincenzo Fano (vincenzo.fano@uniurb.it), Erasmus+ Coordinator for the Master’s Degree Programme in Philosophy of Information (https://filosofia.uniurb.it/)  at the University of Urbino Carlo Bo, taking into account the availability of appropriate activities and academic supervision.

Applicants must arrange their Erasmus+ mobility and funding through their home university.

The activities will be agreed upon before the traineeship and included in the Erasmus+ Learning Agreement. They will depend on the trainee’s academic background, skills, length of stay and the projects available during the proposed period.
